What Are The Benefits Of Owning Stainless Steel Bird Cages?

6 November 2009 No Comment

While you are browsing through the internet or local pet stores, you might notice at the exorbitant prices some parrot cages are. Do not be alarmed, however; those are high quality stainless steel bird cages. Not only that they are high quality, but they last for an extremely long time. You wonder how many people are actually willing to spend so much on a parrot cage. But before you come into a conclusion this early on, you should consider some of the benefits of owning a stainless steel cage.

So what are some of the benefits? One, a stainless steel cage can last a lifetime. That is a true statement. High quality stainless steel bird cage are made of high grade nickel that will not rust under any conditions. With that being said, some manufacturers would use low grade nickel that will actually have the cage rust. Rusting is one of the reasons that you should replace your original cage. Wrought iron bird cages tend to rust eventually. Even with the hammer tone finish in today’s cages some of them do begin to rust eventually. This is because after many cleaning and exposure to outside air, after many years the powder coating will peel away.

The second benefit is that the parrot cage is extremely sturdy and can handle the very powerful beaks belonged to some of the bigger parrots such as macaws, cockatoos and African Greys. Too often there are inappropriately small parrot cages that become a victim to these parrots’ beak. You can witness their beak’s destruction by going to a store and see how they tear apart wooden perches and toys. It is not to say some wrought iron bird cages cannot withstand a big parrot, but having a stainless steel cages can ensure that your cage will be in good quality for quite a bit of time.

The other benefit is that it is easy to clean. You can easily use any wipes on the cage without the fear that the cage will rust. Certainly this makes hosing a cage out in the yard an extremely easy task. Of course, you can even leave your cage outside forever, as opposed to other cages which can be damaged by the nature’s elements.

And don’t forget that the bird cage looks like a wonderful piece of furniture. You can have the shiny piece of cage right in your home and it will impress many others. Don’t we all love to hear our friends and families comment on how beautiful the cage is?

Understandably the biggest obstacle is the cost of the cage. Yet you have to think of it in another way. If you do fall in love with these particular stainless steel bird cages, you can buy one and own it forever. On the other hand, you would have to replace a wrought iron bird cage every few years. Imagine the cost of replacing one and the time spent getting your bird used to the cage. If you calculate it that way, a stainless steel cage all of a sudden does not sound so expensive anymore. In fact, you may even save some money. After all, we all know that your parrot will live 30 to 50 years long.
